Frankie Thorp's paintings are a vibrant celebration of leisurely dining, capturing the playful essence of cherished memories and the joy of good company and delightful cocktails.

Frankie Thorp is a contemporary painter based in London. She studied illustration at the London College of Communication. Her primary inspiration comes from film and cinematography, which she finds offer excellent examples of color interaction and composition. Additionally, she draws inspiration from food and travel, being an avid foodie who believes that food and drink can evoke memories of trips abroad. This sense of romanticism is something she aims to infuse into her work.

Frankie admires artists such as Matisse, Mary Fedden, Tal R, William Scott, and Henni Alftan, appreciating those who suggest narratives or stories through their art. Her own work captures the essence of leisurely dining with good company and delightful cocktails, exuding a playful, fun, and sometimes slightly 'cheeky' vibe, reminiscent of cherished summer holiday memories.

Primarily working with acrylic and oil pastel on stretched canvas, Frankie occasionally adds texture by layering oil paint over acrylic. Each painting begins with a carefully chosen color palette, where she is meticulous about the specific shades she wants to use and ensures not to introduce too many colors.
