Bogusława Bortnik-Morajda was born on July 3, 1962, in Zakopane. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow from 1983 to 1988, graduating with distinction. She then joined her alma mater, assisting in various capacities, including in the Laboratory of Additional Specializations under Prof. Jerzy Lubański, and in the Drawing Studio with Prof. Leszek Misiak, Prof. Sławomir Karpowicz, Prof. Grzegorz Bednarski, and Assistant Professor Andrzej Kapusta.

In 1998, Bortnik-Morajda co-founded Galeria Wir in Krakow with Elżbieta Pietrzyk and Jacek Bandura. That same year, she became an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. She earned a post-doctoral degree in visual arts in 2008, the title of associate professor in 2012, and was named a full professor of fine arts in 2019.
